Since 1977 Tamlin has been building custom homes and completing local renovations. Our west-coast modern designs are the most popular now. Our experienced project managers and in-house design team will work with you to customize your renovation based on your budget.
Design Process
Tamlin will work closely with you to custom design your home and start your renovation. Depending on the size and complexity of your project we can use our own Project Managers, In-House Designers, local custom Interior Designers, and other professionals as required. If you already have an architect or want to work with one of our architects, we are happy to put together the most suitable team for your project. Tamlin can provide all the permit plans, construction drawings, and shop drawings, while checking these drawing details to actual site dimensions.

1. Will Tamlin build my deck or renovate my kitchen?
Tamlin typically does major renovations from $200,000 to $800,000 depending upon the scope of work, location, and timing of the renovation work. We can perform exterior or interior renovations (or additions); usually with a larger scope of work.
2. Can Tamlin help me with my design?
Yes, Tamlin has over 25 years of experience helping clients design and budget their projects. We use CAD drawings and 3D renderings to show you what your home renovation will look like before we begin.
3. Can Tamlin help me with my budget?
Yes, Tamlin initially works with clients to provide a preliminary budget, then a more detailed budget as plans and specifications are developed. We have a design-build approach to each project.
4. Is Tamlin cost effective? How do I know if my project is on budget during construction?
Tamlin’s services are a cost-plus formula, and because we have hundreds of wholesale suppliers and subtrades, we pass on cost savings to our clients. Tamlin uses an advanced building software system that tracks all your costs throughout your project so that you can see “actual” and “estimated” costs. You also receive up-to-date invoices, which are part of our “open book” accounting system.
5. Can Tamlin come to my house for a consultation?
Yes, we will arrange a site visit to discuss your project. We will also make sure we follow safe work procedures as a part of COVID-19 guidelines.
6. Will Tamlin complete all permit drawings and engineering?
Yes, we will provide final drawings for permit, engineering as required (typically structural engineering, but also mechanical, electrical, and civil as required).
7. Will I get a warranty for work?
Yes, renovation work is guaranteed for one year, and supplier warranties such as doors, windows, kitchens, etc. are provided. These warranties range from 2 years to a Limited Lifetime warranty.

8. Does Tamlin have interior designers?
Tamlin can recommend local interior designers whom we work with and also various architects and engineers as needed. However, most projects are successfully completed using our cost effective in-house design team and experienced project managers.
9. Where do I start?
Contact Tamlin for a free initial consultation. Initially one of our project managers will contact you to discuss your project. We can come to your home, or you can visit our show room/offices in Coquitlam. We are close to Ikea Coquitlam!
10. Does Tamlin also handle commercial renovations?
Yes, we do. We do both residential and commercial renovations including offices and warehouse space.
